Thank you to all that helped and attended our charity concert. We managed to raise £260 for St Peter & St James hospice and continuing care centre. The centre provides specialist care and support for those living with progressive, life limiting ilnesses from East & West Sussex. There was lots of singing and fun with songs and music from musicals, even a good impression of Elvis Presley from Tim Cullen. Also there was a raffle with some nice prizes, thanks to those who donated prizes. We would like to thank Tim & Jane for supplying the afternoon’s entertainment, and Wendy Hunt for organising the event and all the staff for their help with this event. Our charity concert was featured in the Argus newspaper.

Today saw our first sing along concert. Local residents, Tim & Jane Cullen, provided music for some of our clients at the new Truecare UK "function" room. There were many favourite songs being performed from musicals such as "The Sound of Music" and some old wartime favourites. Jane who is an opera singer also performed some short opera pieces. Those attending this free event enjoyed their afternoon which was supplemented with laid on refreshments of tea, sandwiches and cakes. We would like to thank all those who made this an enjoyable afternoon (photos of the afternoon can be found on our Flickr account, click the image of Tim & Jane).

Today members of staff attended a First Aid training course held at our training room located at our offices. The course was fun, and enjoyed by all; some photographs of the day can be found on our Flickr account (the link to our Flickr account can be found at the bottom of the homepage).

Just after Christmas, Truecare UK relocated to new rural premises just outside Brighton. Our new premises have allowed it to be much easier for clients and their families to visit the Truecare UK offices. We had two special visitors arriving for a cream tea with our office team (you can see some pictures on our new "Flickr" account; there is a button at the bottom of the homepage.) We will be adding many more photographs as we progress through the year; who knows there may be many more cream teas!

The swine flu virus (officially known as influenza H1N1) is now a global pandemic. The government is providing widespread treatment services rather than trying to contain the disease. Business’ and companies, like Truecare UK are important players in slowing down the spread and impact of swine flu. Our employees have been issued with hand gel, gloves and aprons as part of our protocol to help slow down the spread of the virus.

Our employees have all begun a new course of first aid training which we are making standard for all our new, and existing, employees. Other training that our employees have begun include “Manual Handling” procedures and dementia training which will all add toward their NVQ qualifications.
This year we have also begun working in partnership with East & West Sussex fire services. The fire service teams have been visiting our service user’s homes and carrying out free fire safety checks, helping to make their homes a safer place.
